Senior Project Manager - Civic Campus

Job purpose: 

Join our dynamic team as a Senior Project Manager and take charge of the exciting journey toward delivering the Civic Campus in alignment with corporate goals and governmental regulations. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring successful project delivery, leading with a proactive approach alongside our dedicated project team. Utilizing your expertise in effective project management techniques, you'll spearhead high-quality, cost-effective projects that not only meet council priorities but also contribute significantly to our regeneration and property-related objectives. Day Rate:

  • Umbrella PAYE: £500 - some flex for exceptional candidates
  • Duration: 12 weeks

Location: West London

This position is with a local government council that stands at the forefront of revitalizing the most prestigious areas in West London.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Reporting Structure: The position entails reporting to the Civic Campus Project Build Director and collaborating with various staff types in a Project Management Team, adjusting based on funding and delivery needs. Collaboration extends to internal council departments, external contractors, service providers, partners, and local communities to optimize project outcomes.
  2. Project Management Responsibilities: The Senior Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the successful execution of significant, large, and intricate projects, aligning with corporate objectives and government regulations. This involves taking a proactive approach, and employing effective project management techniques to ensure high-quality, cost-effective project delivery that aligns with council priorities and objectives related to regeneration and property.
  3. Additional Support and Leadership: In addition to managing specific construction projects, the role involves providing project and program management support services, including quality assurance, for other council delivery projects as needed. The Senior Project Manager also leads project delivery teams, manages external consultants, and may serve as a deputy for the Civic Campus Build Director when required.

Person Specification:

  • A good knowledge and understanding of project and program issues within the public sector is desirable.
  • A broad knowledge of cost planning, cost control, and construction technology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the wide range of procurement methods within construction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant project management tools and processes including Prince 2 methodology.
  • Educated to degree level in a construction or project management-related field (or five years or more relevant experience).
  • Project management-related qualifications is desirable such as Prince2 Foundation or Association of Project Managers Foundation certification (Practitioner preferred) or demonstrable career development activities
  • Construction related qualification
