A fantastic oppotunity has arisen in one of the Londons most innovative councils based in west london, who are currenty seeking skilled Carpenters that are available. This role provides consistency, stability and fantastic work life balance. Below are further details on the role: 

Structure of the role:

Monday to Friday 8am-4pm (Sometimes finish earlier)
Pay Rates per day : PAYE £185 Umbrella £238 
Van Provided
Petrol Provided
Power Tools Provided

Essence of the role:

Responsible for being part of a multi-disciplined works team within the housing repairs, responsible for delivering essential specialist fire safety works including firestopping and compartmentation throughout the borough, ensuring health and safety compliance and best practice.  To work in a professional and flexible manner and carry out work in accordance to latest regulations.
To carry out the installation of fire doors within strict guidelines of manufacturers specifications. Must be competent to work under UKAS accreditation such as BM Trada or FIRAS to carry out fire door installation/repairs.


The main day-to-day:

  • The candidate will be expected to fit a minimum of two door leaves/ doorsets a day.
  • Alternatively operative may carry out fire door inspections using PDA as part of the fire door maintenance programme and carrying out minor repairs
  • Carry out pre inspection to doors, identify and provide Fire door data and accurate measurements.
  • Prepare fire blanks and frames for site assembly.
  • Operative will carry out lock changes to fire doors throughout the borough to manufacturers instruction without compromising the fire door integrity.
  • Carrying out alteration work by reinstating/erecting partition walls creating fire resistant compartmentation in line with Approved Document B 2010.
  • Constructing fire rated casings such as electrical housing units and other bespoke access panels.
  • Site & fit fire signage in accordance with BS 5499-10: 2014. 
  • Manage materials as effectively as possible with regards to minimising waste, choice of specification and logistic.
  • To undertake pre-measuring work in order to assess works required and ensure its completion.
  • To be able to make good minor decorative damage disturbed during installations.

Requirements of the role: 

Qualifications:
• Relevant building qualification NVQ2 or city in guilds with 2yrs experience or 5 years trade experience
• Working knowledge of any secondary or general trade skill set

Essential:
• Drivers Licence 
• Experience in fitting doors
