Job Details

Coordinate the delivery of high-quality lettings, allocations, and void management services, meeting organisational goals and legal requirements. Ensure fair distribution of Council housing and provide advice on sheltered and adapted housing needs. Develop and manage policies and procedures, using data analysis to improve processes and set performance targets. Manage the budget for the Allocations and Lettings Service area, monitoring expenditures and producing regular financial reports. Act as deputy for the Head of Allocations & Lettings when necessary.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Leading Excellence in Service Delivery:
    • Spearheading the provision of exceptional lettings, allocations, and void management services, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, vision, and legal requirements.

1.2. Fair Allocation and Housing Options:

  • Ensuring equitable allocation of secure Council housing, nominations to Registered Providers, and other housing options as per the Council's housing allocations scheme and quota plans. Providing expert guidance on assessing the need for sheltered and adapted housing.

1.3. Policy Development and Process Enhancement:

  • Crafting, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures concerning allocations, voids, and lettings. Utilizing business intelligence and transformative strategies to enhance and monitor the voids and lettings process. Establishing and tracking performance benchmarks to optimize service efficiency and effectiveness.


Qualifications:
Possess a minimum of GCSE 'A' Level education, NVQ Level, or demonstrate equivalent experience in managing a dynamic housing or property management service.
Knowledge & Experience:
Proficiency in contributing to, and at times leading, strategic and policy development initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in effectively leading and overseeing multiple teams responsible for delivering intricate services spanning various disciplines.
Thorough understanding of housing law pertaining to security of tenure, tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, including eviction protection and legal procedures.
Ability to translate complex legal, policy, and procedural guidance into actionable plans for efficient service delivery.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with customers, legal representatives, advocates, senior management, council members, and other stakeholders on multifaceted and sensitive matters.
Capacity to supervise, inspire, and manage the performance of officers reporting directly to the role.
Insight into current housing needs trends and adeptness in crafting strategies and policy recommendations aligned with the council's service objectives.
