A fantastic oppotunity has arisen in one of the leading councils in London, whom are seeking a Senoir Disrepair Surveyor to be apart and lead an inovative and exciting team! 

Location: Council based in West London but role open to Hybrid/Remote 
Duration: 3-6 Months - Possibility for FTC or Perm as well 
Rate: circa £300 - £350 per day (Umbrella) 
36 hours per week

Role purpose

To provide client management of the Disrepair team
Ensure that for the services/area allocated, the service Is joined up and consistently meets resident and other stakeholder expectations.
Ensure that control systems (such as agreed KPIs and business management information) are applied in managing contractors to achieve contractor efficiency in delivering repairs. Make sure contractors are effectively managed and supported

Key Duties: 

  • Client the disrepair service to deliver agreed performance and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Ensure the housing stock is safe and compliant in line with best practice and current recognised standards.
  • Apply the performance framework to monitor contractors and drive service improvement. Within this framework build a collaborative operating culture to maximise efficiency, drive innovation and secure ‘best in class’ customer service.
  • Utilise financial parameters for the operation of the service to ensure that all parties are clear on their delivery targets, operating budgets, and financial reporting. Monitor financial performance against budgets and financial targets. Take early corrective action where over/underspends are identified. 
  • comparison against targets. Consistently monitor KPIs and ensure that performance is reported on. Identify service, performance and financial problems and failures and ensure that these are quickly resolved through improvement plans. Where problems and issues are identified ensure quick corrective action is taken including improvement plans, deep dive reviews and contractual remedies. Performance failure must not be left unaddressed. 

The post holder is responsible for:

Continuous improvement in the delivery and quality of repair work related to resolving disrepair cases and in ensuring that we take from these ‘lessons learnt’ to prevent future disrepair cases and escalation resulting in additional costs, court cases and compensation.


Investigating any structural problems escalated from the repairs technical or operations teams, for arranging any structural testing and other specialist tests, making structures safe, compiling reports to send to management recommending costs with works estimates or property disposals.  Arranging any remedial works or safety works as necessary.

Carrying out all surveys that are required to properties that are under Right to Buy applications to ensure that only works for which the Council has a landlord repairing responsibility are carried out before sale completes and for dealing with any queries from purchasers, surveyors and valuers.

The ideal candidate would have experience of more than 2 years in disrepair and with3-4 years in a surveying role particularly in responsive maintenance.
