Payrate: up to £300.00 per day (Umbrella)

Overview
We are seeking a proactive Property Compliance and Building Safety/Risk Manager to oversee statutory compliance across a London local authority’s property portfolio. This hands-on role involves regular site visits to audit compliance, inspect mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure buildings are safe and meet legal requirements.
You will manage compliance frameworks, prepare technical specifications for system upgrades, and lead related projects. Working closely with facilities teams and contractors, you will ensure all works meet statutory standards and maintain accurate records via CAFM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure statutory compliance across the estate through site audits, reviews, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement maintenance and inspection specifications with internal teams and contractors.
  • Manage compliance-related projects, including procurement and monitoring financial payback.
  • Act as Responsible Person for key compliance areas (e.g., Legionella, Asbestos, M&E Safety).
  • Maintain asset registers and support risk mitigation plans.
  • Foster strong relationships with contractors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement and embed best practice in all facilities projects.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical disciplines or related experience.
  • Professional membership or working towards chartered status (CIBSE, CIOB, IOSH, IIRSM).
  • Experience in compliance management, project specification, and financial planning.
  • Proficient with CAFM and compliance software.
  • Strong communicator and team player with excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results in a busy environment.
