Financial Accountant required by a leading charitable organisation based in central London.

This is a full time permanent role, salary circa £52,000 per annum plus excellent benefits – hybrid working – offices located close to Oxford Circus / Bond Street tube stations (Zone 1).

The overall purpose of the role is to provide financial accounting, reporting, and taxation services for the organisation’s publishing arm as well as to oversee the Group cash and treasury function, via supervision of two Finance Officers.

The post holder is responsible for the financial accounting function, including preparation, analysis and reconciliation of the monthly balance sheet; ensuring all intercompany accounts are reconciled and the reconciling items are cleared promptly; ensuring all cash transactions are identified, posted and allocated promptly (via supervision of a Finance Officer) and preparing the quarterly VAT return and the EU ROS return on behalf of the VAT group.

The post holder will be expected to keep under review existing processes and procedures to improve them where necessary and bring them into alignment with group practices.

Essential requirements:

  • Recognised CCAB accounting qualification     
  • Up to date knowledge of accounting standards and regulations  
  • Working knowledge of data protection and confidentiality requirements
  • Sound understanding of VAT
  • Experience of producing Statutory Accounts using UKGAAP/IFRS in a commercial organisation
  • Experience of being responsible for an effective and efficient full year-end audit
  • Experience of preparing accurate and timely monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience of maintaining an accurate and current fixed asset register
  • Experience of working as a lead in finance related projects
  • Experience of working in the publication industry
