Job Opportunity: Housing Operations Manager

We are currently partnering with an innovative local authority in Hamemersmith and Council whom are seeking dynamic and dedicated Housing Manager to lead a team and help spearhead a divisionto deliverying expectional service.  Hammersmith and Fulham Council is committed to delivering excellent neighborhood services, ensuring high-quality housing, and fostering vibrant, safe, and sustainable communities.

Location: Hammersmith, London (Hybrid Role- 3-4 days in the office)
Department: Neighbourhood Services
Direct reports: Max 12-15 staff 
Supervising: Housing Officers and Housing Assistants
Day rate: £350 Umbrella

Role Overview: As a Housing Manager, you will lead a team of Housing Officers and Housing Assistants, driving initiatives to enhance resident satisfaction and quality of life. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the neighborhood services business plan, fostering community involvement, and ensuring compliance with tenancy terms. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering top-tier housing advice and creating a cleaner, greener, and safer environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Team Management:

    • Inspire and manage a team to achieve corporate targets and promote engagement.
    • Conduct regular estate inspections and deliver a high standard of housing management.

  2. Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Partner with local communities, tenant associations, and external stakeholders to deliver integrated services.
    • Act as a key advisor for tenant and resident associations, enhancing their involvement and satisfaction.

  3. Quality & Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to tenancy conditions, manage voids and rehousing processes, and address anti-social behavior.
    • Oversee the implementation of fire risk assessment recommendations and manage domestic violence reports sensitively.

  4. Financial & Legal Management:

    • Plan and control budgets, optimize resource usage, and represent housing services at county court hearings.
    • Ensure compliance with legal standards to avoid judicial reviews and associated costs.

  5. Communication & Engagement:

    • Develop effective communication strategies to inform tenants of their rights and responsibilities.
    • Handle complaints and use feedback to drive continuous improvement.

  6. Innovation & Improvement:

    • Champion best practices, innovation, and creativity in service design and delivery.
    • Analyze performance indicators to enhance value for money and service quality.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in housing management or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Competence in budget management and legal compliance.
