Temporary Communications Officer required by a leading membership body based in central London to assist the Communications Team and Director in providing social media relations, online content and media service, as part of comprehensive communications function.

This is a TEMPORARY role, starting asap covering in the interim whilst the organisation recruits for a permanent person. You may also apply for the permanent role, if you so wish.

This role is paying circa £16.00 to 17.00 per hour and will be a mix of remote and office working. Offices based in the City of London.

Key Duties:


  • Manage social media channels, ensuring they are relevant and engaging for member and external audiences and integrated into wider comms activity
  • Develop social media strategies to support outputs and identify areas for growth on social media channels
  • Provide communications support for events, e.g. press stories and press releases including uploading videos from events and attending events to provide live social media
  • Management of the blog outputs and input to the editorial calendar
  • Manage YouTube channel; look for opportunities to create and share new video content
  • Develop and maintain new ways of communicating with members and the general public
  • Work with Marketing teams, ensuring that content is well presented, leveraged and scheduled in a timely and consistent way across channels, as agreed with the Director of Communications.
  • Work closely with communications and marketing colleagues to agree key messages including statements, lines to take and quotes.  Obtain approval for quotes from relevant senior management or presidential team.
  • Assist Director of Communications and colleagues to draft press releases, features and letters for approval and distribute same to maximise coverage in national, trade and regional outlets
  • Identify key media contacts and maintain an up to date and relevant contact database.
  • Assist the Media Relations Officer with press enquiries including setting up media interviews and advising staff on dealing with the media. Lead on responding to press enquiries in the absence of the Media Relations Officer.
  • Draft, maintain and update content for the news section of the website.
  • Monitor and share relevant planning and related media coverage daily; maintain media coverage records and assist in evaluation reporting and keep daily circulation list up-to-date.
  • Prepare press releases and web stories as appropriate or as directed

Person Specification:





















 

 

  • Experience of using Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media as an integral part of the communication mix to support news and media work and wider communications and marketing.

 

  • Good news sense and experience of working on corporate social media channels

 

  • Excellent written communication skills and some media relations experience
  • Knowledge of Adobe design (desirable)
