A leading membership organisation and regulatory body, within the medical field, are looking for a skilled Communications Officer to support them in their Communications department, based in the City of London (Tower Hill area).
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision. Experience of working within politics, policy or communications would be desirable.
This is a PERMANENT, full time role - 35 hours per week - salary circa £23,000 to £26,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
Core duties of the Communications Officer include:
" Produce weekly Parliamentary updates
" Liaise with stakeholders including government departments, parliamentary committees and MPs
" Organise events for Parliamentary and other stakeholders
" Preparing written evidence for committee/member oral evidence sessions
" Liaise with and respond to enquiries with the media
" Create media lists, write and distribute press releases
" Collate and analyse media coverage
" Proactively generate story ideas
" Support with social media
" Take part in rota to scan news articles for relevant stories
Applicants ideally should have:
- Strong understanding of current affairs and political processes
- Basic knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
- Experience of responding quickly and agilely to media requests
- Experience of computer programmes including (Excel, Word and Photoshop)
