Media and PR Officer required by a professional standards regulator who work within the medical / healthcare sector across the UK. The post holder will work and assist the External Affairs Manager to ensure the smooth running of the organisation's media and public relations function as well as the broader work of the Communications and Marketing team.
This is a permanent role, working full time hours, paying £33,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
Core duties of the Media and PR Officer include:
" Provide assistance in the delivery of the media function, including the production and distribution of press releases and liaising and responding to queries from journalists
" Provide public relations and media support to the organisation, ensuring announcements are communicated effectively and providing support as required
" Provide support to the Fitness to Practise (FTP) team, including writing weekly media alerts, liaising with the FTP team, liaising with journalists at hearings and acting as the first response to journalist queries and issuing news releases as required.
" Build effective relationships with professional body journal editors and relevant media as necessary and secure coverage.
" Support the effective delivery of social media strategy.
" Carry out research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences.
" Recommend and implement new platforms and activities to promote the role and responsibilities of the organisation.
" Developing proposals and ideas, writing project plans, undertaking research and implementing campaigns as required by the line manager.
" Ensure the appropriate systems and processes are in place for the media and public relations function, including: maintaining the press log, managing the press cuttings service, monitoring media coverage, producing media reports and maintaining media distribution lists as required.
" Contribute to the ongoing development of departmental processes as required.
" Support the communications department in the delivery of projects and activities where appropriate in relation to the fulfilment of the Communications Strategy and the organisation's business needs.
" Prepare reports and statistical information as required.
" Experience and knowledge of working in a dedicated Media and PR role
" Proven experience of media handling, including responding to queries from journalists and writing press releases
" Experience and knowledge of managing a media or PR campaign that effectively combined traditional, online and social media
